The Air Canada Fleet in 2023 will consist of around 200 aircraft.

The largest carrier in Canada has been adding new and secondhand aircraft recently as it has continued to expand.

With the pandemic in the rearview mirror, Air Canada is expanding its fleet once more and attempting to meet the increased demand for air travel. The airline has received numerous brand-new narrowbodies into its fleet during the past year, in addition to several new and used widebodies. This article looks at the fleet situation for Air Canada in 2023. Additionally, we’ll look at the future design of this fleet.

At a glance: the fleet of Air Canada

According to Planespotters.net, these are the general kinds, variations, and numbers of aircraft operated by Air Canada as of late June 2023. There are the following aircraft from Airbus:
33 A220-300s, 2 A319-100s, and

  • 12x A320-200s
  • 15x A321-200s
  • 18x A330-300s

These Boeing airplanes belong to the airline:

Eight 767-300s and 40 737 MAX 8 aircraft

  • 6x 777-200LRs
  • 19x 777-300ERs
  • 8x 787-8s
  • 30x 787-9s

There are a few considerations to keep in mind about these figures. It’s important to note right away that these statistics only apply to the Air Canada mainline brand. Thus, it excludes both the Air Canada Jetz private charter branch as well as the budget and leisure-focused subsidiary Air Canada Rouge. Aircraft operating under the regional Air Canada Express banner are also not included.
However, these figures do take into account a handful of specific freighters that operate for Air Canada’s cargo business. In fact, a large number of the 767-300s on the list have already undergone conversion to freighters or are in the process of doing so.

The fleet will only lose four aircraft in 2022.

In terms of recent departures, Air Canada bid four Airbus A320-200s goodbye in 2022. However, they didn’t get very far since they were transferred to Air Canada Jetz, the company’s private and special charter brand.
In case you weren’t aware, Jetz is the “charter aviation service provider [for Air Canada] delivering superior Business Class service to satisfy the travel needs of professional sports teams, entertainment groups, and corporate clients.” Therefore, domestic business class chairs will be installed on every aircraft operating under the Jetz brand. The Jetz A320s, for instance, have 66 business class seats.
